Default I thought weather was interesting but not like this..

I just bought a high quality Tasco(?) telescope very expensive, took awhile
to setup aswell.. I got the moon
in view, and looked through the lense and WOW.

I can see every crator on the moon, its as if im in the moons orbit waiting
to land

20 years ago I thought the same thing. I still have an interest in astronomy
now but I'm far more interested in the weather. You can actually feel and
'experience' the weather unlike astronomy where you are peering at it
though a lens and it all seems rather, well, 'distant'.
Plus the fact that that you can predict an eclipse with absolute certainty
1000 years in the future yet we can't be really sure what tomorrow's
weather will be like.
Meteorology is far more fun

All complete nonsense.......... you can enjoy astronomy with just your
eyes........ and things appear "distant" because they are lol.

I'm not into astronomy but sometimes I wander outside on a starry night and I am
awestruck by the sheer magnitude and beauty of it all. Makes one feel very
humble indeed.

Go to http://www.heavens-above.com and enter your location.
Then click the "Whole Sky Chart". You can alter times and dates there.
It's great!

BTW Saturn will be visible in the west from about 9pm.

Also the images posted at news:alt.binaries.pictures.astro for REAL inspiration
There's an archive of images from the above group but I can't remember the URL.
