Default Bracknell (Tawfield) - effects of Hemel explosion

I thought I heard jets taking off from Hurn airport sometime after 6
this morning. It might have been the explosions as I'm pretty certain
Hurn was closed at that time.

I'm not quite sure what the airport are playing at. Here, 3km from the
airport,
the weather is stunning ... a virtually cloudless sky, brilliant sunshine
(more so
even than yesterday afternoon), a regulation slight low-level haze
(left-over
from the early-morning fog) which is reducing horizontal visibility to
5 or 6km. From my viewpoint the southern horizon is not visible so I
can't even so the smoke plume. It's certainly not "reducing visibility".

Luton, Beds (15km NNE of the Buncefield depot. This distance from
the depot to the airport is also 15km)

Could be in as much as it is causing problems for the holding and
approach routes. I'd guess that there are a number of diversions for
Luton, LHR and so on.

Whether what I am seeing is pure combustion products, or condensation onto
those products I'm not sure - any ideas?

Martin.

I live about 4 miles from the site and the explosion woke us up at just gone
six as must have happened to anyone unless they were deaf although the
vibrations were noticeable. However I could not see the source on looking
out of the window although I did think it could be the Buncefield depot.

Some debris from the explosion has landed here; it appears to be lagging of
some kind. I do have some photos and video but better is already available
on the web.

It is sunny here as the smoke is slightly to the north of us and the sun is
low down over the southern horizon.
