Southcote (W. Reading).
Patches of 'cloud' observed to NW thru' to ENE since 1030. Resembles high Sc and is dark grey or black in colour. Believed to have originated from oil storage depot explosions at Hemel Hempstead. Did not hear anything here, even though I was up and about. Eric Belton |

We didn't actually hear the explosion here in Bracknell (at least where we are), but the house gave a violent sharp shudder just after 0600Z .... elevated smoke now cutting down the general light levels here in Bracknell: sun still shining strongly, but effect now almost eclipse-like. Martin. Smoke clouds arrived here about half an hour ago, it became quite dark for a while, but its now much thinner althiough covering about 70% of the sky.
