NOAA 17 photo shows lines of frontal cloud heading towards the British
Isles - above all to the west of Scotland and Ireland. Bright areas in the
northern half of the Netherlands but Belgium is mostly cloudy. NOAA 16
photo shows extensive cloud over Britain with lines of convective frontal
cloud moving east. Lines of showers moving into Ireland.

Rain reaches western Scotland and Ireland early on Saturday morning and
spreads to most of Scotland and across Ireland by midday. Heavy rain and
hail in places and some sleet or snow in the cold air behind the front.
Outbreaks of rain in western England and Wales by midday move east during
the afternoon. Thunder quite widely in central and eastern Ireland in the
early afternoon and in parts of southern Scotland and NE England later in
the afternoon. Frontal zone narrows as it moves SE across England but
widespread development of heavy showers in Ireland, Scotland and northern
England.
