@individual.net: http://www.metoffice.com/weather/eur.../warnings.html Just trying to dig around for the thicknesses being forecast. Taking the GFS example at Stansted, getting down to 512dm http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sa...gss&submit.x=3 &submit.y=12 Pity I can't compare to other models. Can anyone remember the last time we got down close to 510dm in the SE, probably more recently than I imagine. Richard |

ITV Weather picked up on the snow too this evening. Looking good down this
end of the country for a change. Northwest London always seems to miss the worst normally. In November we didn't get a single flake while the rest of the country seemed to turn white (so it seemed from here). -Mike "Joe Hunt" wrote in message ... http://www.metoffice.com/weather/eur.../warnings.html |

Any snow will be wet and may not stick, certainly at lower ground near the coast. The continent is not all that cold. Back in 1987 temperatures of -15 to -20 were being advected from Scandinavia, atm there're above freezing. I'll be watching these temperatures very closely over the next few days between turkey, Christmas Pub and lots of wine. Happy Christmas Everybody. -- Keith (Southend) http://www.southendweather.net |

Just Please, please not another "east gets everything" situation! There
are people west of the Greenwich Meridian who like a good snowfall too! Edmund |

ups.com... Just Please, please not another "east gets everything" situation! There are people west of the Greenwich Meridian who like a good snowfall too! Edmund I'd expect the snow to extend a fair distance inland aided by the presence of the upper vortex to the SE, e.g well into the 40% disruption zone http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/.../warnings.html Also (admittedly a long way ahead) there's the potential form more widespread snow over western areas towards the end of next week as milder air returns e.g. http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/gfs+162.png Worth noting that EC appears less progressive in this respect compared to the GFS. That'd do nicely for me! But, even down near the coast? Hmmm... I'll believe *that* when I see it! ![]() Cheers, -- Dave Fareham-down-near-the-coast. ![]() |
