Default best prospects since 1997

The latest progs seem to suggest we could be in for a spell of weather
similar to 1997 - the last time the South East got anything like a half
decent cold snap that lasted longer than 2 or 3 days - there wasn't
that much in the way of snow during that spell - had there been I think
it would have been far more memorable than it was.

I am off from Dorset to Bedford after lunch on the 25th so it will be
interesting to see what happens. I had earmarked the 27th to go for a
walk on the summit of the Oxford Canal around Fenny Compton so I had
better pack a shovel!

I doubt that the ice will be thick enough for walking on the canal.
