Gratuitous attempt to say something positive about the weather

I have no empirical data to work with, but it seems to me this winter is
shaping up as a much more "normal" one than recent years.

Hereabouts, I don't think we've had more than one or two days since mid
November with a day max in double figures. Even today, in the "mild" air
that the forecasters have been promising us, Marham (just up the road)
is reporting 6c:-

Longish spells of zonal westerlies (sometimes stormy), with brief cold
interludes (sometimes snowy) are pretty much "the norm" for East Anglia
at least, and it's great to see this kind of cycle returning after
seemingly such a long run of warm winters. I can remember doing some
long bike rides early last January in temperatures of 14c; I don't think
we've had that kind of temperature around here since the end of October.
