Default Today's model interpretation (12/01/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0537,
12 Jan 06.

The models show a trough crossing the UK at the beginning of next week, with
rain likely in most areas. Pressure will then rise to the south, bringing
SW'lies for all. As usual, areas further south and east will see the least
of the rain.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
A trough covers the Irish Sea, leading to westerlies for Northern Ireland
and SSW'lies or SW'lies elsewhere. By T+144 pressure builds over England and
Wales, with WSW'lies across Scotland and Northern Ireland. By T+168 the
ridge moves eastwards as yet another trough approaches from the west; this
leads to SW'lies for all.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
MetO brings a trough over the UK with westerlies for Scotland and Northern
Ireland; elsewhere winds are a mix of westerlies and SW'lies. By T+144
pressure rises over the UK, leading to light winds for southern England and
SW'lies elsewhere.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
GFS shows a mixture of SW'lies and westerlies for the UK, with the latter
following behind a trough over England. The winds become westerlies at T+144
as the trough moves eastwards, followed by SW'lies and WSW'lies at T+168.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
A deep low lies to the north with westerlies for all.

GME/DWD:

The German run shows a secondary centred near the Wash, bringing westerlies
to much of England. Wales lies under NW'lies, as does Northern Ireland,
whilst Scotland is affected by northerlies. As with MetO, pressure rises
over the UK at T+144 with SW'lies for all.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run shows WSW'lies for all, driven on by a deep low to the
north. A trough crosses the UK at T+144, with westerlies and WNW'lies
following behind.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/ngp10.prp.120.europeg.gif
NOGAPS brings strong SW'lies across the UK as the result of a trough to the
west.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
A deep low lies to the NW, leading to SW'lies for all.
