The breezy conditions across Britain at the moment are more than matched in
the south of Iceland. At midday Vestmannaeyjar in the far south was recording a wind speed of 83 mph from the south west with a surface pressure of 952mb. Visibility was reduced to less than 1km due to heavy snow and probably salt spray as well. The temperature was in fact fairly high around 2C. Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com |

The meterological station is on a hill on the south end of the island
of Heimaey, in the Westman islands. The winds in the Vestmannaeyjar town are less than half of those in the station at Stórhöfði. |
