Default Things aint what they used to be

Well, here we are on a possible sustained easterly spell of January weather
but please don't expect too much or you will be sorely dissapointed. Fifty
to twenty years ago this set up would have been a sure-fire bitter-cold
spell with a mantle of white over much of the country; but not now. The best
we can expect is a patchy covering of snow in places at the demise of the
cold european/russian air.

Mind you those satellite temps have really taken a dive.
