This might be one you could help with, Graham?
Do you, or anyone else, know of an on-line source where I could find data on the above for 2006? My Googling wasn't exactly successful... -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |

It is possible to purchase booklets of tidal predictions for the whole year locally. The Hydrographer's tidal prediction page for Falmouth is at http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/easytide...on.aspx?PortID =0005&PredictionLength=7 There's an annual table for Falmouth at http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/calendar/year/1869.html and an index of other places at http://www.mobilegeographics.com:81/zones/:Europe/London I've no idea how accurate these are compared to the 'official tides' or even real life. -- Goalie of the Century http://www.crowsnest.co.uk |

Hi Paul,
I've found Google is becoming very poor at finding in minority web-sites, all to do with them concentrating on page ranking & links. rather than keywords. E.g. Searching on Penzance Weather lists my site at No 1 on Excite, AllTheWeb, Altavista, Wanadoo, Ask Jeeves, Lycos, but it no longer appears in the top 100 on Google (it used to be 2 or 3), but loads of sites with a brief mention of weather in Cornwall do. I think Google need to rethink their direction, unless they are only interested in becoming more of a 'Corporate' listing. There are various freeware packages you can download to calculate tides. Try typing tide prediction freeware on one of the metasearch engines. Also http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EasyTide...ide/index.aspx allows you to calculate tides online for 1 week in advance. If you have difficulty finding a free package, email me direct & I'll try & come up with a decent one. My understanding has always been that factual data cannot be copyright, though a particular format in which it is presented could be. -- John Hall "Never play cards with a man called Doc. Thanks for those links Goalie. I've checked predictions for random dates with my Tides 3.7 program and they coincide to within a minute so they have obviously been calculated using the same constants and harmonics. I also checked them against the Hydrographer's prediction and found that they never varied by more than 15 minutes. Actually, it's heights rather than times I'm more interested in. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |

When I've been to St Ives in the past, there was a little pink tide leaflet you could buy, but obviously that isn't an option from Cheltenham. ![]() It's only really the week from 7/10/06 that I'm interested in, as that's when I have a holiday booked. I know there's a full moon on the 7th, but I don't know if the biggest tides will be with the full or new moon that month. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |
