Looks very much like fog coming in from the Vale to spoil a cloudless
sky.

It seems the absent Leeming obs (as spotted by John Hall) were the
cause of yesterday's low daytime readings from York. They were stuck on
-1C from the 11Z ob and didn't update. I assume the readings for York
on Ceefax p404 are actually Leeming's.

The fog thickened again and by sunset visibility was down to c.25
metres. The max. visibility was about 200 metres.

Currently, temperature is -1.6°C.

Maximum in Wishaw was -1.7ºC. The coldest day here since late 2003.
Whilst the fog has been dense, the lowest vis here was 60m or so. Not quite
as bad this evening at around 150m
