A fine, sunny day here today despite the pressure reading as low as
976.5mb (probably the lowest since Jan 2005). Maximum temperature was 9.2C with no rain during daylight hours. Certainly a huge improvement on the conditions experienced at the end of January (9 consecutive overcast days) when pressure was as high as 1036mb. 7.6mm of rain fell yesterday and overnight today taking the monthly total to 13.0mm and the annual total to 35.6mm. This now means that Jan/Feb will not end up as dry as in 1891 but with little rain forecast over the next five days or so it remains on track to rank amongst the driest on record. Last day (0000-2400) with as much as 5mm was 30th Dec while the last day with as much as 10mm was 2nd Dec. Richard Slessor, Hazlehead, Aberdeen. |
