In fact that is 1 deg *higher* than the forecast for tomorrow of 5 deg C. Wednesday (T+96) it has snow showers and a max of 4 deg C. Will (even more confused of Haytor) Doesn't surprise me, Will. I'm sure we've been down this road before re the automated output. As I've said, when required it can be modified. Jon. Looking at Weatheronline last night I noticed something odd about Tmax forecasts for next Friday (Yes, I know it's a long way ahead..). For the SE the forecast max was +10°C which simply didn't square with any information given in the other charts for that time. I see it has now been changed to a more reasonable +3°C. In message , Jon O'Rourke
writes "Will Hand" wrote in message ... Jon, but at least it is progged to be sub 528 DAM ? True, just that the deepest instability and coldest air is expected further north at that point. There could be some wintry precip. in the SE though as per the GFS http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/cg...fi/en/2006/02/ 18/basis12/enen/rart_06022118_1812.gif?a1c745d8816cc4e75bcb2373f13 6377d A max of 6 deg C is not far off normal for time of year, is that really consistent with deep cold air? Probably not. As ever I don't take those maxes too literally, there is the facility to modify the 5 day output when required but this takes time and is at the discretion of those on duty. The EC ensemble plot for Canterbury indicates a max. of around +3 or 4°C which may be more representative. Jon. Whatever happened to quality control :-) These automated 5-day forecasts are disseminated quite widely. They appear on the WMO website under the heading "Official Weather Forecasts" with the Met Office logo on display. Currently the London forecast on the WMO website predicts max temps in London of 7C for Sun/Mon/Tue while for Norwich it shows 6/6/5C for the same days. Out of the 13 locations on the list snow is currently forecast for only one of them. That is for Exeter on Wednesday. Norman.
