Default BBC NEWS | England | Hosepipe bans call in South East

"Water companies in south-east England are being urged to introduce hosepipe bans to
avoid the introduction of more extreme water-saving measures.

The recommendation has come from the Environment Agency, which said in a new report
that the region remained in a "serious situation".

The period from October 2004 to January 2006 was the driest in some parts of the
South East since 1921.

Four out of the nine water firms already have some form of hosepipe ban."

Does anyone know if the John Prescott ever reads reports like this?

He is still pressing on with plans for umpteen hundred thousand new
homes in the south east of England. I suppose it is too much to expect
an ex-ship's steward to understand such intellectual concepts as the
connection between population and demand for water.

A job there for Charlie Windsor perhaps? Advisor to the Office of
Deputy Prime Minister on environmental matters?
