Default Today's model interpretation (17/02/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0538,
27 Feb 06.

The models still show cold weather for the UK for much of the week, with
signs of a change during Sunday as milder air pushes northwards from the SW.
In the meantime, northern and western areas are likely to see plenty of snow
showers this week, driven inland by a NW'ly wind.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
Low pressure is centred over the North Sea, with a mix of northerlies and
westerlies for the UK. Westerlies affect much of the UK at T+144 as a weak
ridge moves eastwards over France, followed by light and variable winds from
a col over England and Wales at T+168. Elsewhere winds are NW'lies.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
NW'lies cover the UK due to a low south of Norway. By T+144 low pressure
moves over Northern Ireland, leading to SW'lies for England and Wales.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
GFS also shows the UK under NW'lies, again due to a low over the North Sea.
Winds become WSW'lies and SW'lies at T+144 as the low moves NNW'wards and a
new low approaches to the SW. By T+168 a weak ridge covers England and Wales
with westerlies, with variable winds for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
Light winds cover the UK, which lies between a low over Scotland and a
deeper low to the south. Winds remain light for most at T+144 as another low
approaches France from the west.

GME/DWD:

Low pressure lies to the SW with southerlies over most areas. The
southerlies strengthen at T+144 as low pressure deepens to the west of
Ireland.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/ngp10.prp.120.europeg.gif
NGP brings a mixture of westerlies and NW'lies over the UK due to low
pressure to the NE.

KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif
The Korean run shows lows to the SW and SW, as well as another centre to the
east of Scotland. Winds are northerlies for most as a result.
