Default Driving conditions

We have all seen idiots on the road, but this morning I was nearly taken out
by a people carrier that went straight across the road in front of me, on a
sharp right hand bend. I was going uphill approaching the bend and was
literally 10- 15 feet away when he went across me.
The road was treacherous with snow on ice, but certainly driveable, but the
speed he was going at was unbelievable. It really was seriously close.
On other occassions on the Wolds roads, which are quiet and generally fast,
I have seen people overtaking at speed on snowbound roads,
Unsurprisingly I lost count of the number of cars I saw in the ditch today.
I'm not really sure of what the point is I'm trying to make, but how on
earth do we cope with these idiot drivers? They're bad enough on dry sunny
days.

You let them get on with it, as indicated they end up in the ditch, cars a
write off, insurance goes up, perhaps they may ease up next time - sounds
good, but wether its true I,m not sure

I believe a certain amount of natural selection is probably a good
thing!

The gene pool will be all the stronger for it.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?
His name shall be The Flying Spaghetti Monster!

Sorry, I was forgetting the FSM.

Have you been touched by His Noodly Appendage?

Ah yes, I remember at least 15 years ago driving up a steep, icy lane, some
years ago by Chirk Castle, near Oswestry. A Welsh farmer was approaching
from the top of the lane in an ancient Land Rover. Seeing me, he not not
unnaturally hit the brakes, the Land Rover carreered sideways and slipped
unrelentingly down the lane towards my car. However, at the very last
moment, miracleously, we avoided an entente non cordiale. However, my day
was made, when sliding past me, his chubby face loomed out of the sliding
window, and with a huge beaming smile, he said : "well, I never , I nearly
had you.." and he disappeared down the lane.

He probably thought the fancy electronic stability stuff in his car would
take care of the conditions. That's the only reason I can think of for some
of these idiots. They don't seem to realise they don't have an "override
physics" button.
