Brussels on Tuesday 28th February
Sleet and then wet snow until late morning. Dry subsequently with a few bright intervals until early afternoon. Fairly heavy shower of snow grains around 13.30 local time followed by a spell of light to moderate wet snow which lasted until late afternoon. Patchy snow cover on grass and soil but it was short-lived on hard surfaces. Cloud broke again late afternoon with bright intervals before dusk. Shower of heavy, driving snow just after 18.00 reduced visibility briefly to fog level and created a general snow cover within minutes, some of which has persisted through the evening. Moderate SW to W wind veered WNW to NW in the afternoon. Brussels Uccle 3.5°C - overnight minimum 1.0°C - and 5 mm rainfall. Brussels Airport 4.0°C - overnight minimum 1.1°C - and 8 mm.
