Latest pictures at around 12:15 today (Saturday):
http://users.aber.ac.uk/ais/weather/pics/dscf0984.jpg http://users.aber.ac.uk/ais/weather/pics/dscf0986.jpg That's my wife on the sledge. The second picture shows my ski trails in the background. Oh for a ski lift! It's an absolutely gorgeoues day here; no wind, bright sinshine and 5.7C (now, at 12:45). The slope is north facing, so will probably hold the snow until this cold spell breaks down. There's a good complete cover everywhere up here though at the moment. Felly sgrifennodd James Brown :
I think you need to start issuing sledding forecasts Adrian ;-)) Well I'm no expert on forecasting, but given the current situation I think there will be good skedding to be had around the Elan valley and Pumlumon areas (which are slightly more accessible to most people than where we live) for a couple of days. Obviously north facing slopes will fare better if the sun persists through the day. There is the chance of a further top-up of snow tonight and the odd shower through the day tomorrow, which should keep all slopes (at least above 250m but probably somewhat below too) in good shape. There will be good sledding around here until the expected breakdown Tuesday/Wednesday, I would think. Bring your sun cream too if you're intending to be out in these conditions for any length of time! The sun is getting quite strong as we near the equinox. I'm now getting a little concerned about our ski resort. The temperature now,
at 23:00, is +1.3C. I didn't think that was going to happen! Did I miss something on one of the forecasts? Adrian -- Adrian Shaw ais@ Adran Cyfrifiadureg, Prifysgol Cymru, aber. Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Cymru ac. http://users.aber.ac.uk/ais uk |

The ski resort is now closed. The last decent sledge run was yesterday
(Monday) evening. Overnight rain has left the snow too patchy for any winter sports. You might just manage to build a snowman if you're quick though. Current weather: rain, 4.0C, last night's minimum 2.6C. Our first night without an air frost since 26th February.
