We had a gust of 60mph in Coventry at 0600hr on Saturday - the strongest
here since at least 1986.

I don't know the set-up for the wind recorder at York Uni. I often feel
that the values are too low compared with neighbouring RAF stations (ie
Linton-on-Ouse with a max of 71KT - 81.7 MPH at 0800Z) even allowing for the
general environment. Their pressure values are suspect too.

Hi Steve,

Didn't the Octboer 2000 storm produce any stronger gusts ? East Midlands
reported a gust of 64KT on that day but we were in the "Sting Jet" region.

Hi Joe

No, on that day, our max gust was just 52mph - our October record was
set in 2002 at 59mph on 27th.
