Hi, Dave and all

When I was out about 22:20 taking the sheepdogs for their late-night comfort
stop, wind had backed NW and was in the region of F6, with drifting snow.
Snow was a little wetter than the very dry powder in the showers before
sunset, when we also had a hard frost. Areas of our side road which were
salted this morning are covering in, but snow has eased and wind dropped to
about F3 at time of posting.

Looking at the Meteosat image for 22:30 on Wetterzentrale

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/fssatms1.html

the low off the Norwegian coast certainly seems to have potential for us in
Shetland. The feature due North of us also seems to be winding itself up
purposefully; from memory, both of these lows were showing as shallow
troughs a couple of days ago on the UKMO Metfaxes.

Could do with a bit of warmth to bring on the grass now - lambing due to
start in just over 3 weeks ....

Maurice

Sandwick, Shetland 60 North, 1 West

Nearer the Arctic Circle than Dave :-)
