Quite an exciting ten minutes at 13:55.

Sudden increase in wind, gust to 41mph, torrential rain with hail and
now a clearance from the SW, with patches of blue sky.

I'll post figures later.

I'm pretty sure that was the cold front which raced past here just before
12.30. After about an hour of subsiding air and sunny conditions, the
really unstable air is now approaching with associated heavy showers and
strong gusts. The wind direction is gradually going to veer to the west.

The next 6-9 hours are crucial. Speeds to my north west must be F11-12.

The rear edge is very clearly defined here, the web cam sequence
should pick it up very well, and at the moment it looks set for quite
a nice afternoon! Looking at the satellite pics that seems a bit
unlikely. I think we'll stay inside.

Must be here now. Wind increased from F6 to F7, rain increased briefly
(though still not heavy), and now blue sky appearing. Temp 7.1C, down
from 7.7C half an hour ago.

And same here, just before it reached Steve.
Now clear blue skies and an F5.
I note there's a polar low being pulled into the system south of Iceland. A
colder flow than expected perhaps - and an increased likelyhood of snow
later if that's the case.
Alex.
