I'm amazed that bridge wasn't closed to traffic given the forecast. They
even measure wind speed and direction on it.

Or at least closed to high sided vehicles.
The bridge looked very exposed to me and nobody can claim they
weren't warned unless they thought it was another false alarm.....

Although I can also imagine that hauliers don't want to keep their
trucks off the road at every warning of high winds and there must
be considerable pressure on the drivers.

Yes it should have been closed to high sided vehicles. I've known them
(whoever "they" are) close it at much lower speeds than that. I go over it
many times in the summer on the way to my caravan in Co.Donegal. It even
has an anemometer on its top.
