Default Wind picking up

Wind here in Irvine (Southwest Coast of Scotland) picking up now, gusts of
55mph and averaging 25-30 mph. Dropping pressure seems to have bottomed out
at 988mB. Looks like the starm has arrived as predicted.

sure has
No idea about the speeds but its arrived in Argyll - power cuts already
around us and the tide is incredibly high. We have a shallow tidal creek at
the bottom of the field which rarely shows a white horse - they were racing
in around 6 knots just before dark - very full and still another 2 hours
before high tide then.

Wind has really started to rattle all around the house. Going to light a few
candles and turn the volume up on the telly while it lasts

This is not going to be pleasant

Take care folks

The inshore waters forecast for Mull of Kintyre to Ardnamurchan has
actually downgraded the wind speed slightly since this morning when force
11 seemed definite. The 1700 forecast states: "southwest gale 8 to storm
10, possible violent storm 11 at first, veering west or northwest 7 to
severe gale 9 on Wednesday". It's around 40-45 mph at the airport, gusting
to 60-65, though Malin Head, c.50 miles away, has 53 mph, gusting to 85.
The pressure here has been at 985mB for the last six hours.

I notice that Benbecula at 1920 was 61kt gusting to 83kt which is definitely
F11.
