It often surprises me to see large temperature variations in small areas, when they are in favour of a coastal site like Solent MRSC. Highest SYNOP at Southampton Airport on Wednesday that day was 24, my own maximum was 25.1 (12 and 4 miles inland from Solent MRSC, respectively). Usually, 2 degree differences are in favour of the inland sites but at least twice during this hot spell it's been the other way round. Going down to the beach to isn't always cooler! Twelfth consecutive day over 25 here and beat Gravesend ![]() -- Dave Fareham (West) |
