Dear All

I heard through a friend (who works with Paul Knightly, an occasional
poster here) that Mark Lowe, who posted on here (according to google)

from
around 2000 to early 2004, died recently of a cancer-related illness.

On a personal note - I remember Mark from my halls of residence at

Reading
University where we were both doing Meteorology-related courses. A

quiet
guy who kept himself to himself who seemed to love his weather and

Rugby
League. I hear from Jon O'Rourke that Mark went on to work as a Met

Office
observer at Boscombe Down after graduation.

Thanks for that, Richard. I remember Mark's posts well. He posted from
Wigan, updating regularly from that area along with Col in Bolton. I
remember when he moved to work at the Met O.

This is so sad, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

I was shocked by this. Given Mark's background and obvious interest I
expected him
to quickly move into the forecasting side and to make a good forecaster.

I can only echo Ken's final comments.

Jon.

Yes, I would always take particular interest in his posts as he was my
'nearest neighbour' on the group.

This is so sad, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

What can I say?

My condolences to his family.
