Everyone -
My north facing cam has picked up a suspected FC or certainly a nasty looking lowering this afternoon which I've just noticed before I report this one to TORRO can I have a few other expert opinions??? All tornado experts advect in, please! http://llandru.servehttp.com/General/suspect.jpg Albemarle 12z sounding showing nothing terribly nasty! http://llandru.servehttp.com/General...304061200z.jpg les -- Les Crossan, Wallsend, Tyne & Wear 54.95N 1.5W Home of the Wallsend StormCam and the Backup USW FAQ - www.uksevereweather.org.uk |

I don't claim to be any expert, but the clouds present don't seem to support
the funnel cloud. I can definitely see what you are signalling out, and it does look convincing, have to see what TORRO say. Mike www.dudleyweather.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk |

Hello Les,
I've played around with the image-there seems to be at least one other vertical structure next to the suspect FC,therefore I think these are most likely hail/snow shafts (a multiple vortex being highly unlikely in these conditions !). However-the sounding has a steep nr surface lapse rate and dry air aloft-a situation known to produce FCs and waterspouts. Are we looking towards the coast BTW ? I would report it as a suspect-they may have other sightings. FWIW my money is that it's a ppn shaft, regards, David |
