Default Today's model interpretation (8/4/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Wednesday. Issued
0525z, 8 Apr 06.

The runs show an unsettled spell looming for much of the UK, with low
pressure to the north bringing brisk westerlies for the UK. As usual,
southern and eastern areas will escape much of the rain, whilst northern and
western areas will see a fair bit.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
The UK lies under moderate westerlies with low pressure to the north. Low
pressure deepens to the north at T+144, resulting in strong to gale force
westerlies; there's more of the same at T+168 as the low moves slowly
NE'wards.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
MetO also shows a low to the north at T+120 and T+144 with moderate to
strong westerlies on both days.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
A trough lies to the west, this time leading to SW'lies and WSW'lies for the
UK. Winds become lighter westerlies for most at T+144 as the trough pushes
eastwards, although northern Scotland lies under westerly gales. A weak
ridge moves over southern England at T+168 with WSW'lies for all.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
The Canadian run shows strong westerlies for all due to complex low pressure
to the north and NW.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
A mixture of westerlies, NW'lies and northerlies covers the UK with a ridge
over Ireland and Wales. Winds become strong westerlies at T+144 with low
pressure deepening to the NW.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/ngp10.prp.120.europeg.gif
Low pressure is centred to the SW of Ireland with a trough over northern
England. Winds are SW'lies across England and Wales, southerly over Northern
Ireland and SE'ly over Scotland.
