Something which everyone on this planet should be able to do. ================================================== ================== 0930 We certainly are favoured here in the SW. Yesterday was mainly dry with spells of sunshine and another gorgeous day today with warm sunshine and blue skies. Temp now 4.1 after a min of -1.1 deg C. Sowing seeds like mad in the garden ATM making the most of the dry weather which is very very welcome in these parts after all that rain and snow last winter. The Easter rush will be beginning soon with hordes of cars caravans heading down the M5 to the riviera beaches. I'm already getting in the summer mood fitting out our boat for the wide open coastal waters. We certainly are favoured here in the SW. Yesterday was mainly dry with spells of sunshine and another gorgeous day today with warm sunshine and blue skies. Oh yes! We went for a walk along part of the nearby Jurassic Coast between Sidmouth and Branscombe yesterday. The sun shone strongly with just the odd cumulus and out of the wind it was warm. Down on the beach it was even warmer as there was no wind and a few hardy souls were swimming (wetsuits required). The arms & face suntan is coming along nicely. Currently at 10:30, 9.0C, RH 53%, DP 1.0C, 1024 mb (R), Rain last 24 hrs 0.0 mm.Wind 3.0 mph NNE. _______________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 45 m amsl |

My tan is being topped up nicely too, face turning quite brown now, (rust and wind burn turning to sunburn :-) ) 1045 temp 5.8 deg C with "wall to wall" sunshine so bright that shades are required. Today's max in Dartington, +11.7 deg. C.
Last night's min -2.8 deg. C Richard You must be in a bit of a frost pocket despite your proximity to the sea. In fact, it seems to me that Devon has some very frost prone areas and could be due to the countless steep sided valleys?? My parents live near Sidmouth and they get more frosts than here even though they are nearer the sea. Often when driving back it could be -2.0C at my parents' house but +2.0C by the time I get onto the A30 into Exeter. My toms, chillies and aubergines will have to wait until I move to Ottery St Mary in a couple of weeks time before getting released from the prison of their pots. _______________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 50 m amsl |

Prior to living in Dartington I was in the depths of the Benson tundra! Thankfully Dartington is not so severe a site but on radiation conditions we are often 1-3 degrees colder than the 'official' sites in Exeter & Plymouth. That being said under all other conditions (varying degrees of cloud & wind) we definitely benefit from our southern location. At present (20:45) Temp +4.6 deg. C, DP +0.6 deg. C, Wind calm, and radiating strongly....pleased that I have held back by 1 more night to put the plants in the soil! Richard. |
