Max temp today 7.8°C at about 1215Z, with a secondary max about
7°C at 21Z. For an April day in southern England with a southwesterly this is remarkably cool. I presume the reason for it is that the cold air that has been advected southwards in the last couple of days is simply being blown back at us, and the temperature will not rise until a properly different air mass arrives. It has now, of course (0025Z) and despite a clear sky and light wind the temperature is above 5°C. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey, 556 ft. |
