Default heavyweather ws-2300 weather station over Bluetooth serial link?

Does anyone have experience in connecting a heavyweather ws-2300
weather station to a PC over a Bluetooth link? I'm trying to connect
a free2move Bluetooth connector to the station and on pc side I use a
D-Link Bluetooth dongle.

I'm able to "talk" to the free2move Bluetooth connector, but do
not receive any data from the Ws-2300.

Hi

i have a Ws2300, i don't use bluetooth to connect it. However, i am fairly
certain that your problem lies in the software. The HeavyWeather software
is only able to be configured to be connected a Com port. However, i am
fairly certain that software exists to connect to a USB port, but i'm not
able to point you in a certain direction. Personally, i would try googling
ws2300 weather software with usb connection, as that is essentially what you
want.

Hope this helps

Mike

Interesting device but lots of things to trip you up I should imagine.
Firstly by "talk" I assume you mean the configuration program(s) can see
the association between the dongle and free2move and show an established
link rather than actually passing data over the link with something like
terminal. Can the Heavy Weather software handle anything other than COM1 to
COM4? These dongles tend to use number higher than 4 for the COM port
emulations.

RS232 swaps the functions of various pins about depending on the connector
being attached to Data Terminal Equipment (DTE, computers etc) or Data
Communication Equipment (DCE, modems etc). I'd expect the free2move device
to be wired as DCE and thus a normal serial cable should work. But this is
assuming that the weather station is wired DTE but it might not be as it's
normal position would be on the end of a normal serial cable pretending to
be a bit of DCE. Try a null modem cable...

If that fails try using a simple terminal program (terminal in doze) making
sure the COM port is set correctly. Next to look at would be the
handshaking lines but the free2move device is supposed to be transparent
but is that working with A.N.Other bluetooth device or a matching free2move
connector?
