Default Today's model interpretation (18/04/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Sunday. Issued 0535z,
18 Apr 06.

The models show a wet Sunday for many areas as a weakening front pushes
eastwards. After that westerlies will affect the UK with the chance of some
warm weather over much of England and Wales should skies clear. Longer term
both the GFS and GEM bring in a cold northerly with overnight frosts.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
Light winds cover much of England and Wales due to a ridge, with SW'lies
elsewhere. Winds become WSW'lies at T+144 as the ridge moves SE'wards,
followed by further WSW'lies at T+168.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
The UK lies under a trough, leading to SW'lies in advance and westerlies
following behind. Another trough covers Ireland at T+144 with strong SW'lies
elsewhere.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
WSW'lies cover the UK with a deep low to the NW and a trough to the west.
The trough moves across the UK at T+144, with westerlies, followed by
SW'lies at T+168 as a ridge builds over Biscay.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
The Canadian run shows a trough across the UK and again it leads to SW'lies
ahead of the trough and westerlies following behind.
