Seems to be a LOT less fuss about this than you get when a hurricane
gets within a day or two of landfall in the US.
http://au.news.yahoo.com/060422/2/yojk.html

I like this matter-of-fact quote: "

Monica is expected to cross the Northern Territory coastline near
Milingimbi in the next 24 hours before heading towards Darwin.

The cyclone is forecast to weaken to category three by the time it
reaches the city on Tuesday afternoon, the spokesman said."

Only a cat three when it hits Darwin tomorrow (!)

Cheers, Dave

It's slated for the Indian Ocean by the 25th, and the phase doesn't end
until the 27th. Not that I am saying it will last that long. It's an
odd one though.

There again of course I am not saying it won't last another month after
that:

27 APR. 19 44 = Unstable anticyclonic.
5 MAY 05 13 = Unstable anticyclonic.
13 MAY 06 51 = Cyclonic.
19 MAY 09 21 = Cyclonic with a hint of thunder.

Boy, wouldn't that be something to tell the kids.

Where are you getting this information? I haven't seen anything below

Thanks Graham, I didn't look beyond the Satellite image!

Just shows you how quickly these cat 5 storms can weaken when they get
near land. I see it's now down to 40 knots inland and heading well to
the South of Darwin.
