Default Today's model interpretation (24/04/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Friday. Issued 0530z,
24 Apr
06.

The models show a settled weekend for many, with a ridge moving across the
UK. There's a small risk of overnight frost in sheltered areas, but by the
start of the working week it looks like westerlies will push in from the
Atlantic, eventually bringing a front across the UK.

High pressure lies to the west, with northerlies for England and Wales and
NW'lies elsewhere. Westerlies move across Scotland at T+144 as a ridge
topples over the UK; elsewhere winds are NW'lies. By day 7 westerlies cover
much of the UK with complex low pressure to the NW.

Light NW'lies cover the UK as the result of a ridge over Ireland. The ridge
sinks SSE'wards at T+144, allowing westerlies and SW'lies to affect the UK.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
The UK lies under a ridge from a high to the west, with light northerlies
for all. The ridge moves over the UK at T+144 to bring light winds, followed
by SW'lies on day 7 as a trough approaches from the west.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
A mixture of northerlies and NW'lies covers the UK with the Azores High
located to the west. Winds become northerlies for all at T+144 as low
pressure deepens over southern Sweden.
