Bit of light rain/rain and drizzle in and around Tiverton this afternoon but
not enough to stop play (tennis !). Cloud's broken in the last hour or so (http://www.metoffice.com/weather/eur...ter/index.html ) and it's feeling quite warm. Car sensor was reading 18C on the M5, similar to the latest Exeter airport METAR EGTE 251620Z 29009KT 260V340 9999 SCT014 BKN024 18/12 Q1017= Possibly the warmest day of the year so far down here. Jon. (Mid-Devon - it's great, honest) |

Warmest day of the year so far in Coventry today too John.
Cloud didn't clear until afternoon, with just 2.1hr in total up to 6-00pm, but we still managed to reach 18.4C by this time. Really pleasant evening sunshine in Warwickshire right now, and about time too! Steve Jackson Bablake Weather Station Coventry www.bablakeweather.co.uk |

Hi Jon,
We didn't manage such dizzy heights in the South Hams (max +15.9 deg. C) but the *mean* temperature since midnight last to now (21:10) makes today the second warmest day of the year so far: +12.5 deg. C. The warmest was 21st April with a 24-hr mean temp of +12.6 (Tmax = +18.1 deg. C). What may be an interesting feature this Summer if the dry surface conditions continue is very high surface temperatures. With little surface moisture to evaporate more sensible heat will be available for ambient temperature rise. We may see some good super adiabatic lapse rates! Hello Richard, Good point, although I hope not as 20C is about my limit. Although I'll take a few more degrees if it results in some good storms, not that I've seen many here (e.g.1 last summer, June IIRC, and only 1 or 2 the summer before that ). Noticeably humid too today as you commented, although it felt less so by evening when the cloud broke. Jon. |

Svalbard (Spitzbergen) had its warmest April day on record- max 7C and at
23.00-hrs it is still 6C at Longyearbyen. Max should be around minus 5C. Ian Currie- Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com "Jon O'Rourke" wrote in message ... I usually find that walking a mile away from the car park gets away from most of the grockles. You can also find some less well known beaches too. Mind you they are our bread and butter down here so mustn't be too rude and when we go away we become grockles too :-) Will. -- |
