Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0540z,
27 Apr 06. Yesterday the models showed unsettled weather for all for the first half of next week, whereas today it looks like the rain-bearing fronts will struggle to reach eastern areas, instead they're more likely to fizzle out. Western and northern areas are still likely to turn wet and windy however, with low pressure never far away. ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif A col covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland with light winds. Scotland lies under SE'lies and by T+144 winds become light SE'lies and southerlies across the UK as a low deepens to the west. T+168 sees the low deepen with stronger SE'lies for the UK. MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif The UK lies under a trough with WSW'lies over southern England and Wales; elsewhere winds are southerlies or SSW'lies. SW'lies affect all areas at T+144 as low pressure deepens to the WNW. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png Variable winds and a col cover England and Wales, with southerlies or SE'lies elsewhere. Stronger southerlies and SE'lies push eastwards over the UK at T+144 as a low deepens to the west and there's little change at T+168. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html A small low covers Ireland, bringing southerlies across most parts of the UK. JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif JMA also shows a col over England and Wales, this time with SE'lies elsewhere. Winds become light southerlies and SE'lies at T+144 as a weak trough moves over the UK. NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif Low pressure is centred over the Netherlands and the Celtic Sea, leaving much of England and Scotland under variable winds. Elsewhere winds are SE'lies. |
