Default VIS imagery of late afternoon Cb complex southern England

Bernard will probably put up some higher resolution imagery, but for the
moment, have a look at the MetO output (ex. Meteosat) VIS image at
1800Z:

http://www.metoffice.com/satpics/latest_uk_vis.jpg

the shadows cast by the westering sun from the Cb anvil cluster over
Wessex are particularly vivid - the whole thing a wonder to behold,
though perhaps not if you were right under it!

Martin.

The same image shows up the sea fog along the north Cornwall coast
well, and the clear slot giving glorious sunshine along the south
Cornwall coast which had an offshore wind. (no south coast sea breeze,
except near Tamar)

Some rumblings here around 8.45pm, but never got closer than 4-5 miles,
no rain.
