Default Today's model interpretation (25/05/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0541z,
25 May 06.

The models show a ridge to the west for the first half of next week - this
will bring NW'lies or NNW'lies to all areas, with the greatest risk of rain
for northern areas. After that it looks like the high will topple over the
UK, bringing a short settled spell before SW'lies ahead of the next Atlantic
low affect the UK.

Low pressure covers Scotland, with westerlies elsewhere. Winds become
NNW'lies and NW'lies at T+144 as the low deepens and moves eastwards. By
T+168 England and Wales lie under a ridge with light winds; Scotland and
Northern Ireland lie under SSW'lies.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
A large ridge lies to the west with NNW'lies for all. The ridge moves
SE'wards at T+144 with further NNW'lies for most as a result.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
The UK lies under NW'lies with a trough over the North Sea. NW'lies continue
at T+144, but by T+168 a weak ridge moves swiftly eastwards over England and
Wales; SW'lies and WSW'lies cover the UK as a result.

NW'lies cover the UK with a ridge to the west.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings NNW'lies across the UK due to a trough over the
North Sea and a high to the west. The winds become NW'lies at T+144 as the
ridge moves slowly eastwards.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif
NOGAPS also brings NNW'lies over the UK, this time with a stronger high to
the NW.
