Default Today's model interpretation (30/05/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Sunday. Issued 0540z,
30 May 06.

Once again the MetO run offers something different from the rest, with light
winds and warm temperatures for all. The other runs show less settled
weather pushing across Scotland (and possibly areas further south) early
next week in association with a trough. Beyond that pressure looks like
building to the west, introducing a cooler westerly or WNW'ly flow.

High pressure is centred over the Celtic Sea, with NW'lies and westerlies
across the UK as a result. The high declines at T+144, allowing WSW'lies to
affect Northern Ireland and Scotland. By T+168 pressure rises to the west
with NW'lies and NNW'lies as a result.

Light winds cover the UK with high pressure centred over Ireland and the
Irish Sea. The high builds at T+144 with further light winds for most.

England and Wales lie under a ridge and light winds, with WSW'lies
elsewhere. A trough crosses Scotland at T+144, bringing westerlies across
the UK. By day 7 high pressure recentres to the WSW, resulting in NW'lies
and WNW'lies.

NW'lies cover the UK with high pressure to the west.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings a ridge over the UK, with SW'lies for Northern
Ireland and Scotland; elsewhere winds are NW'lies. T+144 sees a ridge over
England and Wales with westerlies elsewhere.

NOGAPS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rngp1201.gif
NOGAPS also brings a ridge over the UK, this time with westerlies and
WNW'lies.
