Default Today's model interpretation (1/06/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Monday. Issued 0535z,
1 June 06.

The GFS run stands out today, showing as it does a mobile and somewhat
unsettled pattern, with rain for all areas. The other runs generally show
England and Wales remaining settled with rain largely restricted to Scotland
and Northern Ireland.

ECMWF: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Recm1201.gif
A large high covers the UK with light winds for all. The high declines
SW'wards at T+144, allowing westerlies to affect England and Wales with
SW'lies elsewhere. NW'lies cover the UK at T+168 as pressure builds to the
west.

MetO: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rukm1201.gif
England and Wales lie under light winds due to a ridge from a high which
covers much of Western Europe. Scotland and Northern Ireland are affected by
SW'lies from a secondary low to the NNW. T+144 sees little change for
England and Wales with winds becoming SSW'lies elsewhere.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
A trough covers Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a mixture of westerlies
and SW'lies for the UK. The trough moves eastwards over the North Sea at
T+144, leaving the UK under NW'lies and a weak ridge. Another trough crosses
the UK and by T+168 cool WNW'lies cover the UK as a result.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
Scotland lies under a trough with westerlies for most of the UK as a result.

JMA: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings a ridge over Ireland with SW'lies for Northern
Ireland and Scotland. Elsewhere winds are northerlies, followed by NW'lies
at T+144.
