An incredibly warm start for this part of the world.
As we are sticking out into the Atlantic, we don't normally get above 25C until July. The earliest I have recorded 25C was 7th June 2004. There is a chance that record might go today, it depends whether we get a sea breeze or not. There was no sea breeze yesterday and it reached 24.1C after a much cooler start. Graham Penzance |

![]() 23.8C at 11:30. Grumpy Old Man mode http://www.met-office.gov.uk/weather...ncornwall.html is currently showing a forecast max of 19C for Penzance. I know that they no longer get reports from here since the PZ station shut, but even Culdrose, on the exposed Lizard cliff top, is showing 22C, so it would be reasonable to expect a max of 24C-25C on sheltered south coast spots. Yesterdays firecast issued at 13:00 gave the same max, despite it being 23C at the time (and eventually reaching 24.1C here and 23C at the seafront heliport). It would be nice if the MetO checked the forecasts against reality occasionally, and had just an inkling of local knowledge. Mind you it is an improvement. The forecast max for PZ always used to be the sea temperature. Apparently because the forecast was computer generated from a pont somewhere in the western approaches, which someone called Penzance. Quite useful if you were in a small boat off Sevenstones. Graham Penzance |

Very hazy here though now the sun seems to be burning through it, probably
be a clear sky in an hour or two. You're a few degrees up on here Graham, due to the haze; if the sky clears then we might catch up!! Currently at 11:45, 20.1C, RH 48%, DP 8.5C, 1028 mb (R), Wind 1.5 mph WNW. ________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 70 m amsl |
