Just about 3 -SHRASN showers at West Drayton today, so nothing really
wintry. Driving home, I saw some patchy snow on the North facing North Downs, with some snow in the long grass so, there has been some real stuff here. I suppose overall I have been a little disappointed in amounts compared to the forecast - but in reality its been too warm. Before Global warming we would have had a cover I'm sure...... No snow here in Warlingham, 556 ft, on the Downs, but some very light rain mid-evening. Before Global warming we would have had a cover I'm sure...... Don't be so sure. I can remember numerous similar synoptic setups in the 60's and 70's which brought no snow. Like this one, they were quite persistent. The current High is in just about the most boring possible place, not cold enough to be interesting and not mild enough to be pleasant. The only interesting thing is the central pressure, which may reach 1050 mb. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, NE Surrey, 556 ft. |
