Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Sunday. Issued 0531z,
7 June 06. The models continue to show a warm weekend for many areas, followed by less settled conditions for northern and western areas during the first half of next week (GFS and ECM). ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif complex low pressure lies to the west with high pressure to the east. Winds are generally southerlies, but a shallow trough brings westerlies to Wales. Southerlies persist at T+144 but by T+168 a weakening trough moves eastwards, leaving the UK under a mixture of NW'lies and NNW'lies. MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif A large high is centred over Denmark, bringing easterlies for much of England and SE'lies elsewhere. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png Southerlies and SE'lies cover the UK from a high over Denmark. There's little change at T+144 but by T+168 a trough crosses Scotland and Northern Ireland, with light winds elsewhere. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html Unavailable today. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run, like the GFS, shows high pressure over Denmark with SE'lies for the UK. The winds become lighter at T+144 as a ridge moves northwards over the UK. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif NGP also shows SE'lies and a high over Denmark. |
