Default Today's model interpretation (9/06/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Tuesday. Issued
0531z, 9 June 06.

The models show some potentially unsettled conditions for a time in the far
north and south of the UK as troughs pass close by, followed by a likely
return of more settled conditions for a while as high pressure builds near
or over the UK.

ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif
A col covers the UK with troughs to the north and south. Winds are
westerlies for Scotland and easterlies or SE'lies for southern England and
Wales. High pressure builds to the east of Scotland at T+144, introducing a
mixture of SE'lies and ESE'lies across the UK. The high declines in situ at
T+168 with southerlies and SE'lies as a result.

MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif
NE'lies cover England and Wales with a trough over France and a ridge over
Ireland. Scotland is affected by light NW'lies and westerlies. T+144 sees a
high settle over the UK with light winds for most areas.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
A trough coverS SE England, bringing NE'lies across England and Wales.
Elsewhere winds are westerlies due to a trough to the north. A ridge builds
from the west at T+144 with light winds for most areas; the exception is
southern England which lies under moderate NE'lies. The ridge declines over
the UK at T+168 with further light winds for all.

Unavailable today.

JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run brings a ridge and light winds across Northern Ireland,
England and Wales. Scotland lies under a trough and westerlies, but by T+144
a ridge builds strongly over Scotland and Northern Ireland, with light
NE'lies elsewhere.

NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif
Southerlies cover the UK with a low to the east.
