.....and before you state the obvious Lawrence I'm talking about the
temperature! 27.0C at 20.50 hrs. I hope we get a storm and some heavy rain soon. Nothing now for two weeks and all water butts empty and ground starting to crack again. Dave, Laindon, S.Essex |

Hey Dave
Do you take baths - No! I'm serious - bear with me!! I've invested in a little submersible pump. When the kids have finished in the batch, I pump the water in to the water butts. It takes about 10 minutes with the little pump I have and gives a good amount (about a butt full) for watering the garden. If you take showers and have a shower over the bath, put the plug in, collect two or three showers-worth and you'll have happy plants. Only problem I see is trying to explain to the the water company inspector why your garden is lush and verdant when everyone else's is parched and dry ;-) Cheers Neil Dave.C wrote: ....and before you state the obvious Lawrence I'm talking about the temperature! 27.0C at 20.50 hrs. Good idea Neil and not one that has not crossed my mind. I've been eyeing up
the waste pipe from the washing machine and the downstairs sink for a while. Grey water recycling is a definite thing for the future. The much maligned Millenium Dome used recycled water from the roof and elsewhere to flush the toilets. Cheers, Dave "Neil" wrote in message ... Hey Dave Do you take baths - No! Grey water recycling is a definite thing for the future. The much maligned Millenium Dome used recycled water from the roof and elsewhere to flush the toilets. I simply let gravity do it for me. The 15ft head (give or take) from the bathroom was enough to work just like it was connected to the mains. Pour a jug of water down the pipe and then quickly immerse in the bath. (Saves a mouthfull of the kids bathwater Yeeuch!) Had a large rubber band holding hose to the taps. Dash downstairs to water... or direct it into a butt. Got LOTS of nasty looks from neighbours whilst happily hosing all round the garden. ;o) Les -- Remove Frontal Lobes to reply direct. http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/hxflyers/ http://armsofmorpheus.blogspot.com/ http://www.xenu.net/ http://www.venganza.org/index.htm Les Hemmings a.a #2251 SA |

My min last night was 10.9 deg C and not at all steamy last night in my bedroom :-) Ground lovely and dry here too with just 0.4 mm this month but nothing is suffering, grass has slowed but is still green and all the flowers and veg look lovely with no watering. Don't have a water butt as no need for one now. 0900 Temp 13.6 deg C Will (Haytor, Devon, 310m asl) -- |
