Default Today's model interpretation (14/06/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Sunday. Issued 0539z,
14 June 06.

The models continue to show a change to less settled conditions to start the
working week, with northern and western areas seeing the least settled
conditions.

ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif
A ridge of high pressure covers the English Channel and low pressure is
centred to the NW. Winds are SW'lies for all, followed by a mixture of
westerlies and NW'lies at T+144 as the low fills and moves NE'wards. A ridge
builds over Ireland at T+144, leading to SW'lies for Northern Ireland and
Scotland. Elsewhere winds are northerlies.

MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif
Much of the UK lies under SW'lies with a deep low to the NW. The exception
is southern England, under a col with lighter winds. A col covers England
and Wales at T+144, with SW'lies persisting elsewhere.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
Low pressure lies to the NW, resulting in SW'lies and WSW'lies across the
UK. The winds become westerlies at T+144 as a weak trough moves eastwards.
By T+168 SW'lies cover the UK due to a trough to the west and a ridge over
France.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
The Canadian run brings SW'lies across the majority of the UK in association
with a secondary low over Northern Ireland.

JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif
A mixture of westerlies and SW'lies covers the UK due to a ridge over Biscay
and a low to the west.

NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif
Ireland lies under a weak trough, resulting in SW'lies for England and
Wales. Elsewhere winds are much lighter.
