Default Next week's weather beginning 18/6/06

================================================== ==============================

This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the
privately run Haytor meteorological office in Devon on how the weather may
unfold next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever
for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of
freedom and the great love for meteorology that we personally enjoy and wish to
share freely with others.

================================================== ==============================

Summary valid for Sunday 18/06/06 to Saturday 24/06/06/
TOI (time of issue) Thursday 15/06/06 0900 UK local time

This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

For Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England high confidence (80%) that
the week will be changeable with rain at times and sunny intervals. Temperatures
near average (15C-20C) but occasionally cool in moderate to fresh SW to NW
winds.

Rest of England and Wales, moderate confidence (60%) for a mainly dry week with
high pressure close by. Some rain, but mostly showery with spells of sunshine.
Warm at times with temperatures 20C-25C, warmest in the SE where 27C is possible
on the odd day. Thunderstorms persisting on the near continent and 20% chance
that these could affect the SE at times later in the week. Winds generally light
with sea breezes.

Prospects for haymaking:

Chance of 4 days completely dry weather at any one spot in England and Wales is
low at 30%. Scotland and Northern Ireland - zero.

It's a brave man who ever uses 0% or 100% probabilities in connection
with the British weather.

Yes but at least it gives as a reasonable likelihood and is realistic in
predictions, unlike forecasters who predict something is going to happen and
when it doesnt completely ignore the fact that it hasnt.
