Default Today's model interpretation (23/06/06)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Tuesday. Issued
0531z, 23 June 06.

The models show a NW/SE split developing. The further north and west you are
the more likely the weather is to be unsettled and breezy. Further south and
east it looks like being largely dry, sunny and warm for the middle of the
week.

ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif
SW'lies cover the UK due to a trough to the west of Scotland and a ridge
over France. There's little change at T+144, but vy T+168 pressure builds
over England and Wales with light winds there. Scotland and Northern Ireland
continue to lie under SW'lies.

MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif
The MetO run shows a trough bringing SW'lies across Northern Ireland and
Scotland with a ridge leading to light winds elsewhere. Winds remain light
over England and Wales due to a col at T+144, while the SW'lies persist for
Scotland and Northern Ireland.

GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png
Winds are light over England and Wales as the result of a ridge, with
SW'lies elsewhere. SW'lies spread across all areas at T+144 as a trough
moves eastwards, followed by light winds at T+168 as the trough fills over
the UK.

GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html
A mixture of WSW'lies and SW'lies cover the UK with a ridge over England and
Wales.

JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif
The Japanese run shows a ridge and light winds for the UK.

NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif
NOGAPS shows a very large but slack low west of Iceland and a trough over
the UK. The winds are light SW'lies or WSW'lies for most areas.
