Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued
0533z, 25 June 06. The models show high pressure settling over Scandinavia towards the end of the week, with southerlies or SE'lies likely as a result. Temperatures will be on the warm side over England and Wales, but further north and west an Atlantic low will probably bring more in the way of cloud and lower temperatures. ECMWF: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Recm1201.gif A high covers the North Sea, bringing a mixture of southerlies and SE'lies over the UK. SE'lies and easterlies cover the UK at T+144 as the high moves NE'wards, followed by light winds for all at T+168 from a col.` MetO: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rukm1201.gif The MetO run shows a small ridge over SE England and SW'lies elsewhere, with a deep low to the WNW. The ridge builds and moves northwards at T+144, leading to easterlies for England and Wales with southerlies elsewhere. GFS: http://217.160.75.104/pics/Rtavn1201.png Southerlies cover the UK due to complex low pressure to the NW and a high to the east. A shallow trough moves over Ireland at T+144 with SSE'lies for the UK and by T+168 the trough moves over Scotland with westerlies elsewhere. GEM: http://meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html As with GFS, the UK lies under southerlies due to a low to the west and a high to the ENE. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run shows a low centred to the NW and SW'lies for all as a result. The winds become southerlies at T+144 as the low fills and pressure builds over Scandinavia. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif NOGAPS shows SW'lies for all, again due to a low to the NW. |
