Ah, two villages away ... bit of a frost hollow I think, especially
Trowley Bottom, yes? The lion is picked out in lights at night.
Not sure it's entirely appropriate, but people seem to like it.

You got it. Fortunately Aylesbury and MK are not prominent from
here. I'm looking forward to some really clear maritime-polar air
come autumn and winter to find out just how far it's possible to see
from the top of the Downs (about 200m away). I'm working on a
horizon map as we speak.

Ac/Sc layer thickened and lowered for a couple of hours after
09z, then dispersed to broken/scattered CuSc for most of the
afternoon; now just a trace of cu and trace of ci.

Yes - Trowley Bottom would be the frost hollow, you can get a flavour of why

I rememer my colleague snowboarding down past the Lion a few years back when
we used to have 'real' snow in Beds (avoiding the Wallabies on the way)

Incidentally, while playing with local.live.com, I zoomed in on the Lion in
all it's glory:

It doesn't seem to for most locations - but then again it's far better than
Google Maps for resolution (I've managed to date the Wootton, Northampton
pics to around 2002 due to the car I had back then!)
